There are milestones that set each professional path and determine the kind of people we are. In my case, the most dramatic choice that I took in my life was to leave a secure company job in London and establish my own business venture in India. It was not only a geographical movement, but a mental one, a jump of unpredictability, and finally a path of development, strength, and mission.
A few years back, I used to work and live in the United Kingdom. As most young professionals, I had struggled to make my career stable and was thankful to gain the opportunities that I had. Working in a global setting made me learn about discipline, professionalism, and the importance of global exposure. It was one of the stages in my life that contributed to my forming of the opinion and expansion of my knowledge about the world.
Yet, it was during all this that I felt comfortable and safe, but there was a small voice in my head that continued to speak to me and it was the voice that continued to pose a question, the question: Is this where I want to make something of my own?
Comfort is powerful. It makes us stable and secure, but there is a danger of actually being confined in it and not growing because we stay in the same. In the long run, I started understanding that I enjoyed the life that I had established in London, but I also needed to establish something of meaning on my terms. I desired to create, innovate and contribute in a manner that enabled me to have my ideas and vision.
That was the point when I made one of the decisions in my life, returning to India.
It was not easy to part with a good job and a comfortable life. Entrepreneurship is not usually started with assurance. Rather, it starts with belief-belief in a thought, beliefs in your capability to learn and belief in that expansion is out there.
Beginning new in India was going to be a whole new stage of my life. It was very thrilling and difficult. Doubts arose, at times the way forward appeared uncertain, and yet there was the feeling of purpose which drove me on.
The law of attraction is one faith that has always been of great importance in my life.
I recall that several years ago, I envisioned myself operating in British Airways. It was a far-fetched dream at that moment. However, life is curious in matching opportunities in cases where one has a clear vision and takes action upon it. After some time, I got a chance to work in UK and be affiliated to British Airways. That experience reinforced my ideas that when one believes in something and works towards it at all times, the universe tends to open a way which earlier could not be imagined.
This dogma still notifies me to this day. Entrepreneurship takes an optimistic outlook and persistence. You have to be able to see the opportunities before they come to be.
When I embarked on my digital marketing project in India, it was quite easy since I had a mission to make something that is valuable in terms of informing, educating, and motivating people. The modern digital marketing has become an influential tool in the discussion, dissemination of knowledge, and linkage of audiences to useful information. It has been an exciting as well as fulfilling affair to be involved in this changing space.
This has always been the vision, namely creating content that is informative and engaging through such platforms as FCR Bytes. On the issues of digital marketing to the educational video, fun facts, trending topics, science updates, historical insights, and world news, the aim has been to create a platform where individuals could learn something new and remain entertained at the same time.
In the internet age, content can power people to think, learn and develop. By developing an educational system that incorporates information entertainment, we will be able to give back in that ecosystem.
Naturally, nothing is a direct road in entrepreneurship.
You have challenges to your patience, decisions to be made which take courage, and things to be learned which only experience can teach. One of the most important lessons that I have acquired in this course of action is the necessity to create the proper team.
Any business man does not succeed as an individual.
The individuals you employ, the people with whom you work with, and the team you form eventually determine the path and future of your organization. Attitude, shared vision and talent are very important. As soon as you have people around you who share in the mission and who contribute their respective strengths to the table, the whole organization gets stronger.
This is the reason I can give the same advice to any entrepreneur, just one thing, do not compromise with hiring the right people.
An effective team is not just a team that executes but assists in the realization of ideas.
The other key aspect of any entrepreneurial experience is the support system. In the back of all the risks taken and all the bold decisions made, there are usually people who offer support, inspiration, and sight.
My husband is one of the pillars who have been supportive in my journey. Entrepreneurship is full of uncertainties and challenges and having a person who believes in your vision and is there by your side in the positive and negative events is an amazing difference. Support systems allow us to feel emotionally stable and not to feel isolated on this journey.
In retrospect, the experience between London and India to establish a digital marketing company has been a learning, transformation and personal development experience. Every step has solidified some of my basic beliefs which have remained to keep me on track.
To start with, we grow when we come out of our comfort zone. What is the most significant is the opportunities that can be found on the other side of uncertainty.
Second, belief is powerful. When you genuinely believe in what you have been visioning and when you are able to bring your action in saving with this belief, things begin to happen, things that you had not even thought of happening.
Third, it is necessary to engage in continuous learning. World changes rapidly and particularly in digital industries and by remaining inquisitive, you can change, adapt and grow.
And finally, people matter. The support system that you have along with the team you are able to construct is very important in moulding up your journey.
One thing that I would tell would-be entrepreneurs and professionals about my experience is this:
You can do anything in this life when you know what you want to be, continue to learn and have people around you.
The dreams do not always take a straight route, but on the occasions that you chase them with strength and braveness, they usually bring you to the very place you are destined to.
